Defending champions Golden State Warriors avoided elimination in game 5 after beating the Lakers 120-106 to extend the series with game 6 coming back to the Crypto Arena in LA on Saturday. The game was back-and-forth for most of the opening half before the Warriors broke away right at the end of the 2nd quarter to open up a 70-59 lead at the half. They will be looking to pick up another win in LA to force the winner-takes-all game 7 back at Chase Centre for a chance go to the Western Conference final.
The Lakers only need one win to get to the Conference finals but they have to work for it. They have had good contributions from their role players throughout the playoffs but the pressure of the bright lights of this stage is beginning to tell as they failed to rise to the occasion in game 5. They will be sweating on the fitness of their star Anthony Davis who had to exit the game with 7 minutes left after getting a knock in his temple from Looney as they scrambled to grab a rebound. Initial reports are that he avoided a concussion so there is every likelihood he will be good to go for this game
The Champions have the record for the most consecutive wins on the road in a playoff series, having won in their last 29 consecutive series. They are yet to win a road game in this series although they came pretty close to doing that in game 4. We feel they have the championship pedigree and experience and we are backing them to get the win here and force a game 7.
