Sacramento Kings vs Golden State Warriors prediction
The jostling for the final playoff places in the West takes centre stage this week with the two playoff semifinals followed by the finals later in the week. The pick of the games is certainly the 9 vs 10 matchup pitting Kings and Warriors. It’s Deja Vu all over again for these Pacific Division rivals who also met in the first round of the playoffs last year which went the full length with the Warriors winning.
The Kings were riding high in the season after a great start. But they fell off towards the end of the season and ended up as the 9th seed. Season-ending injuries to two of their crucial players – Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk who were both having terrific seasons derailed them as they lost 5 of their last 7 matches which proved costly in the tight Western conference and they lost the chance to avoid the play-in with a top 6 finish. Coach Mike Brown has had to rely on his other big stars, guard DeAaron Fox and big man Domantis Sabonis and he will be playing everything through them as they try to get themselves a ticket to the playoffs.
The Warriors have also had their fair share of disappointments. Blown double digit leads and epic collapses coupled with Draymond Green’s suspension did them little favors and they ended up in the 10th seed. They went on a strong run to finish the season though, winning 8 of the last 10 matches and will be hoping to carry some of that momentum here. Warriors star players Steph Curry and Draymond were both rested in their season-ending win over Utah and will be well rested and ready to go here
Although matchups between these teams have been high-scoring this season, this is likely to be a cagey affair with so much on the line given this is a single-game elimination contest. The Warriors defence has been really good to close the season and we are backing them to keep the Kings below 112 points here
