Following a first-round exit at the Paris Olympics, Dusan Lajovic resumed his hardcourt swing at the Cincinnati Open. His luck ran out pretty quickly here as well, losing in 3 sets to wildcard Brandon Holt in the first round of qualifying 2-1 (6-2, 3-6, 5-7). The Russian has posted his best results this year on clay, reaching the semifinals of the Barcelona Open and the quarterfinals in the Argentina Open, the Rio Open and the Croatian Open. The Russian is on a three-game slide coming into this opening round of the US Open though after losing in the third round at the Paris Olympics and the opening rounds of the Canadian and Cincinnati Open. He will be looking for a statement win here to put that behind him
